Erda Leather Studio is made up of a jolly group of women collaborating to produce an original series of handbags designed by owner Patti Dowse. They've established a distinctive identity by using vivid color, American deerskin, and sculptural shapes.

Patti started making deerskin bags in 1971, at first for herself, then for friends. It was an interim thing, until she figured out what she wanted to be when she grew up. With little training, her bags were VERY funky, loaded with fringe, beads, and raggedy edges.

Today, drawing upon the creativity and skills of the group, they have added structure, zippers, pockets, and functionality that embodies the spirit of Erda in a fresh, functional and up-to-date form.
