NJ Searcy found that after many years of jewelry casting and fabricating the shift to larger pieces seemed a natural progression. She enjoys discovering and exploring new materials to use in combination with steel and ceramic elements to create her bird baths, tables, room dividers and mirrors. Forms and colors of the desert and the multi-culturalism of the people of the Southwest are an influence on her designs.

"Sketches are translated into welded steel utilizing tubing and rod that is bent, or sheet metal cut and formed.  Once the metal pieces are joined together they are ground and sandblasted prior to patinas being applied. Patinas, or colored finishes, are sealed, waxed and buffed.

The bird baths, which can be used as bird feeders too, are produced to function in an outside environment.  The hand-built ceramic bowls are glazed with colors to complement the bases, then fired to over 2000 degrees for durability."
