Hallie Katz, jewelry designer and owner of HumanArts with husband, Stan, has been smitten with shiny metals and gems since a high school jewelry class led to a serious interest, which she pursued at California State College in Northridge. In 1970 she and Stan opened a studio in Los Angeles, where they taught jewelry making, sold tools and supplies, and had a fine craft gallery.

After they moved to Ojai in 1980, Hallie sold her work around the country at juried craft shows for 13 years.  Now she finds the gallery business to be her main focus, with a little studio time to create new work.  

Hallie uses silver, gold and gemstones in contemporary designs, and offers a custom design service. One of her specialties is taking clients' diamonds or gems out of old unworn items in order to create jewelry to be enjoyed once again. She particularly likes making unusual wedding rings.
