Jim Varner began an apprenticeship with Gail Lang in 1999. Gail, a well-known metalsmith, was producing a line of sterling silver and 14K gold earrings and bracelets and selling them nationally. Jim had computer and drafting skills and a willingness to learn.
Since 2003, Jim and his wife have taken over the entire production from Gail Lang. Jim excelled at the difficult technique of forging (hammering) metal, forming the shapes, filing and polishing with precision. It's an age old method, and the results are classic.
Jim's silver hoop series offers especially interesting shapes which sets them apart from ordinary hoop earrings, they have 14K yellow gold posts, all designs are made in several sizes, and 14K yellow or white gold is available by special order.
