| Amanda Richardson is an internationally acclaimed artist, whose work is representational in style but exploratory in medium. Both painter and textile artist, much of her work involves a broad diversity of collage techniques and each piece evokes a strong sense of place. Her artwork reflects a particular fascination with plants as they grow, both in gardens and their native environment, and with rock shaped by wind and water. She can capture the light coming through a forest behind blooming flowers, or foamy waves upon the sea. Amanda was born in Cornwall, England in 1957 and has lived there for much of her life. She received her degree at Goldsmiths College, London University. In 1986 she went to live on San Juan Island in the Pacific North West in the U.S., working from the dramatic landscape of islands, mountains and water. Ten years later she returned to her native country, where she now resides and participates in gallery exhibits, and creates large scale commissioned work for hotels and corporate clients. |
