The two artists behind The Tin Woodsman Pewter Company
are Deborah and Jim Chapman. In 1981 Jim was a woodworker
making furniture and lamps, and was back in school studying
romance languages at the University of Oregon where
he met Deborah, who was working on her master's degree
in French Literature. A few years later close friends
decided to shut down their pewter studio, and Deborah
became interested in learning pewtersmithing as a hobby.
Within three years they sold Jim's lamp business, and
drawing from previous experiences with clay and wood,
they developed their business into what it is today.
The Tin Woodsman offers a broad variety of home accessories
handmade in pewter including measuring cups and spoons,
coasters, and coffee canisters. The popular Celtic and
Fish designs are everyone's favorites.
