With no formal art training, Jim Varner, began an apprenticeship with Gail Lang in 1999. Gail was producing a line of sterling and 14K gold earrings and bracelets and selling them nationally. She wanted to find someone to help make the silver work. Jim had computer and drafting skills and a willingness to learn.

Since 2003, Jim and Ann, his wife, who does the office work, have taken over the entire production from Gail Lang. Jim found he excelled at the difficult technique of forging (hammering) metal, forming the shapes, filing and polishing with precision. It's an age old method, and the results are classic. Every woman can use another pair of hoop earrings, especially in the interesting shapes Jim offers.
